SUNDAY 22ND APRIL - ISTANBUL OLD CITY After breakfast, enjoy a fully guided tour of Istanbul – once known as the former imperial capital of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires. We visit the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya, soak in the Sultan’s opulence at Topkapi Palace and explore the Hippodrome. This evening don’t miss the optional Turkish Folklore evening.

MONDAY 23RD APRIL - GALLIPOLI BATTLEFIELDS Early morning departure, headed towards the WW1 battlefields of Gallipoli. Our guided tour of the area will cover ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine Australian War Memorial and cemetery, Chunuk Bair New Zealand War Memorial and cemetery, the Nek, Johnston’s Jolly and the many fortified trenches still clearly visible amongst the scrub after all these years. Later, we enjoy a short ferry ride across the Dardanelles.

TUESDAY 24TH APRIL - CAPE HELLES SERVICES, TROY The morning is spent at the southern end of the Gallipoli Peninsula witnessing the International Service at the Turkish Memorial, Mehmetcik Abide. Afterwards pay your respects while watching the Commonwealth Service at the British Memorial. We then head across the Dardanelles and visit the archaeological ruins of Troy, home of the famed Trojan Horse Your afternoon is free to explore or rest prior to an 11 pm departure for ANZAC Cove.

WEDNESDAY 25TH APRIL ANZAC DAY AT GALLIPOLI On this special day we commemorate our fallen forefathers at the ANZAC Dawn Service. We also attend the Australian &/or New Zealand Memorial Services before a late afternoon drive along the beautiful Aegean coast.

THURSDAY 26TH APRIL - PERGAMUM After breakfast we travel south to the magnificent Acropolis of Pergamum, Asia Minor’s former political powerhouse, although now a laid-back market town packed with ancient sites. Visit the impressive temples and library and interesting remains. Later we drive to the resort town of Kusadasi. Overnight Kusadasi (B, D)

FRIDAY 27TH APRIL - EPHESUS, SIRINCE Today, step back in time, with a guided tour of the ancient city of Ephesus & a visit to the site of the Temple of Artemis. Explore this stunningly preserved city and learn about its past as a major trading centre. Discover the place where the Virgin Mary spent her last days. Visit a rug maker & find out about the local craft Turkey is famous for – carpet weaving. In the afternoon we visit Sirince, a former Greek village famous for its fruit wines.

SATURDAY 28TH APRIL - PAMUKKALE, HIERAPOLIS A great day ahead visiting the magnificent white calcium terraces (cotton castles) in Pamukkale. where you can take a dip, amongst ancient columns, in the hot springs that were used in Roman times for their therapeutic powers. SUNDAY 29TH APRIL - KONYA, CAPPADOCIA We continue east along the ancient Silk Road bound for the lunar like landscape of Cappadocia. We take time out along the way to visit Sultanhani Caravansary and the Mevlana Whirling Dervish Museum in Konya.

MONDAY 30TH APRIL - GOREME, UNDERGROUND CITY
Goreme is a magical little village set amid the surreal Cappadocia landscape. Fully guided, explore the underground city where early Christians escaped the persecution of the Romans by hiding in the intricate network of caves. Marvel at the ingenuity of the early settlers who hand-carved their homes into the volcanic rock and created the regions infamous fairy chimneys and Uchisar Castle.

TUESDAY 1ST MAY - ANKARA, ISTANBUL Early morning departure to the nation's capital, Ankara. Visit Anitkabir, Mausoleum of the famed Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and Anatolian Civilisations Museum, one of the most beautiful and richest museums in the world. This evening we head towards Istanbul, Turkey’s exotic city.
