If you're traveling to Jordan from the Sinai or from the Aqaba land border with Israel or Saudi Arabia, this program may be just right for you. This is our "Desert Delights" tour, but with a final night in Amman so you can visit the magnificent Roman provincial ruins of Jerash before traveling onward.

Wednesday--Meet/assist at the Aqaba port or land border.

Transfer to your Aqaba hotel for a day at leisure on the shores of the Red Sea.

Thursday--Drive up Wadi Araba, route of the ancient spice caravans.

You'll drive along the eastern shoreline of the Dead Sea to a resort hotel to enjoy day use facilities and lunch on the Dead Sea, lowest point on the earth's surface. The Dead Sea has a mineral content ten times that of the Earth's oceans--it's a guaranteed "uplifting" experience! In the afternoon visit Mt. Nebo, the site from which Moses viewed the Promised Land. Drive on to Petra for check-in. Join the "Petra by Night" tour from the Petra Visitors' Center for a romantic introduction to the legendary lost city, Overnight Petra. [BL]

Friday--Full day touring in Petra

Including horseback entry, visits to the Treasury, Theater, Colonnaded Street and ad-Deir, Petra's largest carved facade. In the evening, join the fun at the Petra Kitchen as you learn to cook a traditional local meal. Overnight Petra. [BLD]

Saturday--Morning return to Petra by the "secret road" route.

Visit the High Place of Sacrifice, Wadi Farasa and the Royal Tombs. In the afternoon, drive to Wadi Rum for a jeep tour of the moonscape terrain. Dinner and overnight camping in the heart of the desert. [BD]

Sunday--Transfer from Wadi Rum to Jerash

Transfer from Wadi Rum to Jerash for a tour of the world's best-preserved Roman provincial city. You'll visit the South Theater, Forum, Cardo, Temple of Artemis and other spectacular ruins, accompanied by an English-speaking local site guide. Drive into Amman, Jordan's capital city, for overnight. [B]

Monday--Transfer to Amman's Queen Alia airport for departure.
